Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched a National
Strategic Plan for Malaria Elimination (2017-22) to attain the goal of
eliminating malaria from India by 2030. The National Strategic Plan for
Malaria Elimination (2017-22).
Here we shall discuss about the National Strategic Plan for Malaria Elimination (2017-22) which is a 5 year plan to attain goal of eliminating malaria by 2030 as outlined in National Framework for Malaria Elimination.

1) Ministry: Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare
2) The Strategic Plan gives year
wise elimination targets in various parts of the country
depending upon the endemicity of malaria in the next 5 years.
3) National Strategic Plan for Malaria Elimination (2017-22) gives
strategies for working towards the ultimate goal of elimination of
malaria by 2030 as outlined in National Framework for Malaria Elimination (NFME)
4) Salient features of the NSP or Strategies
involved in NSP for elimination of Malaraia are:
a) Strengthening malaria surveillance,
b) Establishing a mechanism for early detection and prevention of
outbreaks of malaria,
c) Promoting the prevention of malaria by the use of Long Lasting
Impregnated Nets (LLINs),
d) Effective indoor residual spray and augmenting the manpower and
capacities for effective implementation for the next five years.
e) Intersectoral coordination: Work together with the other Ministries
and Municipal Corporations to achieve the desired results.
5) India has the 3rd highest malaria burden in the world. We should
harness innovation and research along with monitoring and surveillance, and
community participation.
