National Sports Awards 2020

Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs announced National Sports Awards 2020 on 21st August, 2020.

The 12-members Selection Committee of National Sports Awards 2020 was headed by former Judge of Supreme Court of India - Justice (Retd.) Mukundakam Sharma.

The awardees will receive awards from the President of India (Ram Nath Kovind) at a specially organized function through virtual mode from Rashtrapati Bhawan on National Sports Day (29th August, 2020).

National Sports Award

National Sports Awards are given each year by Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs to recognize and reward excellence in sports. 


Each year National Sports Awards are given on the occasion of National Sports Day which is celebrated on 29th August to mark the birth anniversary of Hockey icon - Major Dhyan Chand.

Para-swimmer Satyendra Singh Lohia of Madhya Pradesh is the first Divyanga Indian sportsperson of the country, who has been awarded today with the Tenzing Norgay Adventure Award. 

He is also the first Asian Divyang swimmer to cross the 42-kilometer Catalina Channel in the US in just 11 hours 34 minutes.

Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar is given to the corporate entities both in private and public sector and individuals who have played a visible role in the area of sports promotion and development.
